Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data MyMangaBase keeps, what it's used for, who it's shared with and what you can do about it. We wrote it to be understood: if anything is unclear, write to us.
1. Who is responsible
MyMangaBase (www.mymangabase.com) is run by an individual based in Argentina, who is responsible for the data described here. For any question or request about your data, write to info@mymangabase.com.
2. What we store
Your account:
- your email address, used to identify you and to send you the sign-in code;
- if you sign in with Google or X (Twitter), the name, email and photo that service shares with us;
- what you add to your profile: username, display name, photo, banner, country, bio and accent color;
- your preferences: language and spoiler filter.
What you do on the site:
- your ratings of chapters and titles, reviews, comments, posts and reactions;
- your lists (Currently reading, Plan to read, favorites) and how far you've read;
- the catalog changes you suggest and the reports you send.
Payments and API:
- if you subscribe as a supporter or to an API plan, we store the subscription ID and status reported by the payment processor (Paddle or Mercado Pago). We never see or store your card or bank details: the processor handles them directly;
- if you use the API, your keys (stored hashed: we can't see them again), your plan and how many requests you made in the period;
- if you use the cancel-a-purchase form, the name, email and purchase details you give us, to process the refund.
Technical data: we use your IP address temporarily to limit the number of requests and stop abuse. It's only kept as a counter that resets within minutes or hours.
3. What's public
Your username, display name, photo, banner, country, bio, reviews, comments, posts and the number of chapters you've rated are shown on your profile and across the site. Your individual ratings count toward public averages. Your email, your preferences and your payments are not public.
4. What we use your data for
- running your account and the site's features (rating, reviewing, tracking your reading, hiding spoilers);
- processing subscriptions and API usage, and emailing you when needed (for example, when you're close to your API limit);
- moderating content and preventing abuse;
- keeping the site secure and running.
We don't sell your data or use it to show you personalized ads. If the site ever shows personalized ads, we'll ask for your permission first where the law requires it.
5. Who we share it with
Only with the services we need to run the site, and only what's necessary:
- Supabase: the database where everything is stored;
- our hosting provider: the servers the site runs on;
- Resend: sending emails (sign-in codes and notices);
- Google and X (Twitter): only if you choose to sign in with them;
- Paddle and Mercado Pago: billing for subscriptions. Paddle acts as merchant of record and has its own privacy policy, as does Mercado Pago.
Some of these services store data outside Argentina (for example in the United States or the European Union). We may also disclose data when a competent authority legally requires it.
6. Cookies and local storage
We only use the cookies the site needs to work. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies.

When you open checkout, Paddle loads its own code, which may use its own cookies needed for payment.
7. How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. If you delete it, we delete your profile and everything you posted. What isn't deleted: the catalog edit history (it stays without your name), the reports you sent (they stay without an author) and the payment records the processor is legally required to keep.
8. Your rights
You can access your data, correct it, ask us to delete it or object to its use:
- edit your profile and preferences in Settings;
- download your ratings (CSV or JSON) in Settings;
- delete your account and everything in it from Settings → Delete my account;
- for anything else, write to info@mymangabase.com. We reply within 10 business days.
Under Argentine Law No. 25,326, you may access your personal data free of charge at intervals of no less than six months, unless a legitimate interest is shown. The Agency for Access to Public Information (AAIP), as the supervisory authority under Law No. 25,326, handles complaints from anyone whose rights under data protection rules have been affected.
If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your country's data protection authority.
9. Children
The site isn't meant for children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child under 13 opened an account, write to us and we'll delete it.
10. Security
Connections are encrypted (HTTPS), API keys are stored hashed and database access is restricted. No system is perfect: if we find a problem affecting your data, we'll let you know.
11. Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll announce it on the site or by email.
